Weekly Journal

For the summer I will learn different softwares inorder to program robotics that will be used to spark High school, Middle and Elementary school students interest in the STEM field. 

Week 1

Weekly Report #1

5/26/2015

My goals for this week were to complete my CITI Training, setup the computer I'll use for Windows and Linux(dual-boot). I also had to set up a NAO robot, and install the software that comes with it, Choregraphe, then learn how to use the software to program the robot.

Weekly Report #2

6/2/2015

My goals for this week were to complete the remaining Choregraphe Tutorials, document how to use them, and make example projects using Choregraphe. Also I scanned 3,000 ballots for the iOCR study. Plus I completed all the tutorials for Python and Choregraphe, installed the Linux version of ROS, and documented how to use the software.

 

Week 5

Weekly Report #4

6/16/2015

My goals for this week were to complete all Choregraphe projects that I was assigned. Developed a way to display the information in a way that would be meaningful (via the web). Documented how to use Scratch, then I created 5 completely different projects using Scratch. Also, I installed Arduino software, completed tutorails, documented how to use it and created projects of my own using it. Lastly, I installed arduino software on 20 lenovos.

My goals for this week were to type a one page summary on Kristy Hollingshead talk, 6/18/2015, for she was a Computer Sciene Department featured guest speaker. Scanned over 13,000 ballots for the iORC study. Lastly, I revised my powerpoint that summarized what I have done over the summer thus far.

7/7/2015

My goals for this week were to install and

update all 20 Lenovos with the appropriate software, continue to scan ballots, and to update my Scratch Software how to PowerPoint.

My goals for this week were to teach a class of middle school students how to use scratch the software, completed the 100,000 scanned ballot goal, and practice run of my DREU summer work powerpoint presentation.

Week 3

6-9-2015

My goals for this week were to have a conference call with CHris who is effeciaent with the ROS software and to document a summary of the conference. Also, I had to setup and install a software called Scratch onto 20 lenovo laptops for a coding day event thath will be helf late in the summer.

Week 6

My goals for this week were to spend at least

8 hours scanning ballots through copier.

Create powerpoint for teaching Scratch including 3 examples and come up with 5 projects using LEGO WeDo. Make sure ALL pieces are accounted for in Lego WeDo boxes and do run thru of powerpoint presentation (CodeIt).

My goals for this week were to create more choregraphe projects for a demonstration that I will present the following week. Also, to create a powerpoint of my summer's research.

My goal for this week was to present my summer research via PowerPoint and to demonstrate my project with the NAO robot.
